“Lovey” – Blog Post #6
Prompt: Did you have a “lovey” as a child? Do you still have one?
Lux’s age: 23
TW: mention of slightly harsh/strict parents
…
I didn’t really know what this question meant by a “lovey” but Aurora told me that it was a stuffed animal, blanket, or toy that one was very emotionally attached to and viewed as a comfort, often not wanting to be apart from it.
I still don’t fully get it, but I will try my best to answer.
I guess I had a lovey when I was younger. There was this thing I had when I was little that I didn’t want to go anywhere (when I was allowed to) or do anything without it. It was a little bunny made out of balls of white cotton held together by magic. I don’t remember where it came from or when I got it, I just remember I never wanted to be without it.
I don’t have that many memories with it. By the time I turned 5, my parents started to expect more of me, and carrying around a cotton bunny didn’t fit in their expectations. I woke up one day and it was gone. I don’t know where it went but when I asked my parents, they said I was too old for it. They never mentioned it after that and I never saw it again.
I haven’t had a so-called “lovey” since.

Hello!
Sorry that this is a little late!
For this prompt, I struggled to come up what what their “lovey” would have been. I knew they had one when they were younger but I wasn’t sure what it was (stuffie, blanket, or other). I also was thinking about what it could be in the context of the world they live in. Where Lux is Elven and this world has magic, I wanted that to be a part of the lovey. I also was really drawn to the idea that it was made out of something that could be found outside but wanted it to be soft. I eventually kept imagining it as white cotton. I also wanted it to be a cute shape, but a bear was too stereotypical and doesn’t fit my image of a young Lux. I then thought of a bunny and thought that suited them much better.
I hope you enjoyed! See you next week!
