Katherine Swist is a senior studying creative writing at the University of Maine at Farmington. She has a minor in film studies and is trying to decide whether or not to add an English major. She writes fiction most of the time, but occasionally she can be persuaded to write a screenplay or two if she has the motivation. She’s a big fan of character driven pieces, and she’s always wanted to write something focused on body horror, but she hasn’t had the opportunity yet. She loves flawed characters, and most of her pieces tend to include some magical or supernatural elements. She loves reading any sort of fiction, but her favorites are science fiction and historical fiction. She’s also a big fan of contemporary fantasy. Aside from reading and writing, Katherine enjoys watching Formula One and taking her dog for walks. (The dog in the photo is her grandfather’s dog; unfortunately she has no photos of herself with her dog.)

Tyler Wright is a senior studying Creative Writing at the University of Maine at Farmington. He has a deep love of history, especially Japanese history. He spends most of his time reading literature, playing video games, playing board games such as ROOT, or painting miniatures when he’s not working on course assignments. He primarily writes fiction with a preference for fantasy, but also enjoys writing and reading poetry as well as creative non-fiction. His favorite works focus on internal struggles with ‘inner monsters’ or grand narratives such as BERSERK, the Malazan Book of the Fallen series, and occasionally lower-stakes human stories like Sara Pennypacker’s PAX. Outside of his hobbies and creative writing, he enjoys spending time with his family and their many pets, of which there are currently eight: four cats and four dogs, and he is prone to showing off pictures of his “little guy” Frankie (a male tuxedo cat) with little prompting.
