Creep It Real

Hello. It’s me, Audrey Harper. The co-editor who’s been writing about horror for the last three-ish months.

When I was trying to decide what I wanted to use as a theme for my blog, I actually struggled a little at first. Sure, I LOVE horror and all of the little creepy facts that come with it, but did I want to run a blog about it? I thought at first it was a huge cliche. You know, with me being from Maine, home of the King of Horror himself.

But then I got the idea: what if I not only wrote about horror, but also about where it comes from? That way, the blog wouldn’t just be some horror movie review blog or (necessarily) an opinion based blog, (both of which I wanted to stay away from). It would give me the chance to research more into a genre I love, and also get the chance to write about some things people don’t often think about. Like, fairies actually being pretty malicious beings, for example.

Once I’d written my first post, I found myself wondering: Why can’t I just write about something normal like coffee? People like reading about coffee. Horror suddenly just felt too wild. But when I mentioned to my wonderful co-editor, Ciera, that I was going to be writing a post about the Wendigo, she got excited. Maybe people do like reading about where horror comes from.

So I decided to keep writing about what I love. The creepy, the strange, the unnatural…I hope I’ve been able to bring you dear readers some spooky facts about my favorite genre. But it must come to an end. It is time for me to leave The River, and so end Creepin’ It Real.

Thank you so much for your support, for my blog as well as Ciera’s lovely Cafe Scene.

Remember to creep it real,

your River co-editor, Audrey Harper
