In Regards to Plagiarism

It has come to our attention that the poems “Renovation,” “Fishing with Bill,” and “Dislocated,” published under the name John Kucera, were plagiarized. These poems were published through The River on March 28th 2023 and removed from our website on January 24th 2024. Proper credit goes to Clare Flanagan for her poem “Land of My Dreams,” published through Poetry Online, May Chong for her poem “Charlie,” published through Claw & Blossom, and Dorsía Smith Silva for her poem “The Q and A Section,” also through Claw & Blossom.

We at The River consider plagiarism to be not only dishonest but indicative of a fundamental misunderstanding of and disrespect for the art of writing. We do not condone it in any form. Our thanks to those who notified us of the plagiarism, and our apologies to our readers and also to Clare Flanagan, May Chong, and Dorsía Smith Silva for hosting their plagiarized work.
