Rust Image
By Diane Webster
The caterpillar of rust predicts
a harsher winter than average
as it crawls in tiny steps,
leaves behind fuzzy outline
of path across metal
like a pink chalk flower
drawn on sidewalk
during a July afternoon.

Diane Webster’s goal is to remain open to poetry ideas in everyday life, nature or an overheard phrase. Diane enjoys the challenge of transforming images into words. Her work has appeared in “El Portal,” “North Dakota Quarterly,” “Eunoia Review” and other literary magazines.
