Battles Below

by Gerard Sarnat

While war rages

immunologically

gazillions of times

per second

between

our forces of good

that keep us alive

and those bad guys

who will

eventually

win, we creatures

are kept content

enough in pastures

chocked

with food

or all manners of

distraction including

glorious rainbows

so there

are no fights

up here on the surface

which can challenge

what really matters.
