A Friday Farewell
By Robert Drinkwater
As the semester comes to a close, it is time to finish finals, pack up, and head home for winter break. My time as an editor for The River has come to an end . In the Spring semester there will be new editors.
As you know, my blogs for The Sandy River Review focused on book reviews. I chose to do book reviews because for as long as I remember, I have always loved to read. In second grade, my favorite activity for the day was reading time. In my house there was never a shortage of books. Growing up, reading had always been a favorite hobby of mine, from reading the entire Harry Potter series in eighth grade, to Game of Thrones in tenth grade. I felt like doing book reviews was a good way of doing something that I loved. I got the idea from watching several booktubers on youtube give their opinion and recommendations on various books. I wanted to try something like that, except in writing form, so I did, and I enjoyed every second of it.
I will also say that I have enjoyed reading all of the submissions that we have received over the past few months. I have enjoyed every bit of poetry, nonfiction, and fiction piece that we have received and I am so glad to have been a part of this experience. I look forward to the pieces that The River submits, and I wish the best of luck to the new editors next semester.
Thank you,
The River Co-editor,
Robert Drinkwater
