Introduction to the Summer Movie Blogs

Hello,  my name is Silas Cooper and for anyone who doesn’t know me I have lived my life in the Farmington area, growing up in a small town just about a fifteen minute drive away from the UMF campus. Five years ago I enrolled in the University at Farmington as a creative writing major, and though I recently marched in graduation, I am very excited and honored to be closing my college career with an internship here at the River.

I have always had a love for fiction and have been creating stories for as long as I can remember. However, at UMF I developed a true appreciation of screenwriting and film in general. Therefore, for my blog I will be posting thoughts and reviews on films coming out this summer. I will, however, be avoiding blockbusters. So no Marvel or Star Wars movies. I don’t have much of a desire to talk about these films and I know that most people will have already seen these movies multiple times and developed steadfast opinions which really wouldn’t be changed by anything I’d have to say (I quickly learned after “Force Awakens” came out to keep my mouth shut).

Instead I’m going to be focusing on movies that might fly under the radar for most people, whether they’re independent films or films that just haven’t been getting as much publicity as they might deserve. I’m hoping to get people out to see a movie they might otherwise not have seen, or keep them at home satisfied that they’re not missing much, though I hope the former is more frequent than the latter.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to posting this summer.
