Please, Enjoy the Summer by Blaire Lee

The sun was hot, a glowing burst,
We wandered through fields, blissful at first.
Your laugh, just like a summer breeze,
Underneath the shaking trees.
We would give all that we know,
Whilst watching fireflies come into view.
Holding hands tight,
Just to feel,
Our own little story that we could steal.
The days were getting shorter then,
Leaves becoming brown,
Sadness in the den.
Your smile was fading, dimmed your eyes,
Shadows covering your limbs inside.
We sat next to the glass pane,
Watching the rain fall in vain.
I embraced you, kissed your hair,
And inhaled your sweet, fading scent there.
The summer’s gone, the sun is gone,
And you, my darling,
Have passed on.
But in my heart, your warmth shall grow,
A light for me in times of woe.
