A Honeyed Song (a coauthored poem)

By Laine Derr and Carolina Torres

We soak up the sun, flesh of many colors,
bathe in the tides of idle thoughts, dresses
dropping in search of sail, forgetful of
the end, a seaside of reveries – for who
we are, where we are, a rounded world,
a winter’s breeze, we dance w/ the wind.

Laine Derr has published interviews with Carl Phillips, Ross Gay, Ted Kooser, and Robert Pinsky. Work has appeared or is forthcoming from EPOCH, Lana Turner, The Amistad, ROPES, Prairie Schooner, Chapter House, ZYZZYVA, and elsewhere.

Carolina Torres is a Biologist and Public Health researcher who enjoys the arts and literature. As a scientific author, she has published in peer-reviewed journals within the biomedical field. Her writing, mostly prose, is a practice for spiritual reflection.
