Bullied – Blog Post #5

Prompt: Were you ever bullied as a child? Tell a story of a time you were bullied, or a time you observed someone being bullied.

Lux’s age: 21

TW: Bullying

I have been bullied, though not in the typically assumed way. I wasn’t bullied by other kids in my town. I was bullied by my siblings.

My siblings didn’t like the fact that our parents favored me and treated me so differently. They thought our parents never got after me, that my life was perfect and easy (they were very wrong).

When I was younger, my parents always treated me like I was a fragile, insanely valuable thing. They put me on a pedestal and expected, or more like demanded, the very best from me.

I didn’t understand why they treated me so differently than my siblings, and neither did my siblings. All they knew was that our parents called me special and treated me as such, giving me seemingly special privileges and treatment, but they didn’t know and understand why they were saying I was special, I didn’t either at the time.

They were so angry at the special treatment I got compared to the treatment they got, being essentially ignored most of the time and blamed for things other times. They were essentially raised by nannies, not seeing our parents as often as I did, though I was usually being taught and instructed and wasn’t allowed much free time to do what I wanted or have fun.

They took their anger out on me whenever they had the chance, blaming me for our parents’ behavior. They also bullied me because of my eyes.

Elven eyes are usually vibrant colors, often greens and blues, and sometimes yellows and oranges with vertical slightly oval pupils. My eyes are different though. They are a vibrant yet pale pink and slightly orange color with teardrop-shaped pupils. This is not a normal thing among our people and became an easy way for my siblings to take their anger out on me.

Hello!

I am so sorry this is late and that this is so short. I haven’t been feeling the best the past few days, so I fell a little behind and my brain has been in a bit of a fog.

I struggled a little with articulating how Lux’s siblings viewed them in their childhood and how all of them were treated in a coherent and non-confusing way (not sure if I succeeded… pretty sure it’s obvious I wrote this in my foggy-brained state).

The attached picture is a drawing I did of Lux’s eyes.

I hope you enjoyed!

See you next week!
